Third-party apps that use only a password to access Google Accounts and Google Sync will no longer be supported, beginning September 30, 2024.

As part of our commitment to user safety, Google Workspace will no longer support the sign-in method for third-party apps or devices that require users to share their Google username and password. This antiquated sign-in method, known as Less Secure Apps (LSAs), puts users at an additional risk since it requires sharing Google Account credentials with third-party apps and devices that can make it easier for bad actors to gain unauthorized access to your account.

Existing topic-based spaces in Google Chat are transitioning to in-line threading.

Google Chat is upgrading all existing spaces organized by conversation topic to an in-line threaded experience to provide a more continuous conversation flow. The migration begins September 30, 2023, and is expected to be completed by March 2024. During the upgrade, spaces may be briefly inaccessible, and messages will be rearranged chronologically with separators indicating where new topics began.

Integration of FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro across Google Workspace and Avocor devices.

Google is integrating third-party whiteboarding tools FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro across Google Workspace, allowing them to be used in Meet, Drive, and Calendar. All Jamboard device license subscriptions will end on September 30, 2024. On October 1, 2024, the 55-inch Jamboard device will reach its Auto Update Expiration (AUE), meaning it will no longer receive security updates, feature updates, or customer support, and device management will be removed from the Admin console.

Google Chat has introduced the Bulk Member Manager app, enabling space managers and authorized members to efficiently add or remove members from a space in bulk. The app supports slash commands such as /addDialog and /removeDialog for copy-pasting email addresses, as well as /addCsv and /removeCsv for processing .csv attachments.

Email templates are now available in Google Groups for creating and reusing messages.

Users can now create, save, modify, and delete email templates directly within Google Groups. This feature allows users to save composed messages as templates to reuse in the future, reducing the need to type repetitive messages from scratch and accelerating workflows for tasks such as lead introductions, sharing daily homework assignments, or sending project updates.
