Deep Research in Gemini has new enhancements.

Deep Research can now use 2.5 Flash experimental model. Users can upload PDFs and images directly into Deep Research. Gemini will proactively suggest related resources. Reports can be imported, edited, and refined directly into Canvas before exporting to Docs.

Google Workspace Migrate tool now supports migrating files from Microsoft SharePoint Online to Google Drive.

The Google Workspace Migrate tool now allows admins to migrate data from Microsoft SharePoint Online sites, including document libraries, folders, files, and associated permissions. This helps organizations transition to Google Workspace quickly and easily. The migration process involves connecting to the SharePoint Online account, specifying sites and Drive folders, and defining user and group permissions. Comprehensive reporting and delta updates are available.

Generate quizzes for any subject using Canvas in the Gemini app by uploading relevant documents or simply entering a prompt.

Users can now create quizzes using Canvas within the Gemini app. This feature allows users to generate interactive quizzes based on uploaded documents or prompts, receiving instant feedback, hints, and insights. Quizzes are available in all languages and regions supported by the Gemini app for users aged 18+. There are no admin controls for Canvas. This is available for Business, Education, Frontline, and Nonprofits Google Workspace customers with Gemini add-ons.

Google Classroom is now available in more languages.

The Google Classroom web and mobile experience now supports Albanian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Burmese (Myanmar), Georgian, Irish, Macedonian, Nepali, Sinhala, and Uzbek. Note that some features might not be available in all languages.

Upcoming Changes to Microsoft Exchange Migrations

Beginning May 31, 2025, the legacy Data Migration Service will no longer support migrating email, calendar, and contact data from Microsoft Exchange on-premises servers.

Educators can create even more interactive YouTube assignments in Classroom more quickly and efficiently, with the help of Gemini by expanding the collection of YouTube videos that have AI-suggested questions available.

Chat apps can now create spaces with their own identity using the Google Chat API.

This update enhances Chat apps for real-time collaboration and allows for more sophisticated and autonomous Chat apps by eliminating the need to create spaces and memberships on behalf of a user. This is now generally available for Google Workspace developers.

Users can now express interest in upgrading their Google Workspace subscription.

Workspace end users will see a path to request an upgraded Workspace edition including additional Gemini features when they interact with Gemini. Super admins will receive this request by email.

Export Gemini responses to a Google Doc or Sheet from Gemini in the side panel of Google Drive.

Users can convert Gemini’s response directly into a Sheet or a Doc after asking Gemini a question, enabling them to continue working on or share the results.

Direct access to BigQuery saved queries in Connected Sheets.

Users can now quickly and easily create a new Connected Sheet by selecting a previously saved query under any project they have access to.

Legacy Data Migration Service will no longer support migrating data from Microsoft Exchange on-premises servers after May 31, 2025. Use Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GWMME) instead.

Beginning May 31, 2025, the legacy Data Migration Service will no longer support migrating email, calendar, and contact data from Microsoft Exchange on-premises servers (e.g., Exchange 2010, 2013, or 2016). Admins will not be able to start new migrations after May 31, 2025 – migrations that are in progress will continue until completion. Instead, admins can use the Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GWMME) data migration tool to perform these migrations. We highly recommend all admins to start leveraging Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange as soon as possible.
