End users can now enable automatic note-taking only for meetings with three or more participants.
Google Meet end users will gain a new setting to turn on AI note-taking exclusively for meetings that have three or more guests. The feature will become available no sooner than September 21, 2026, with a gradual rollout over up to 15 days for visibility, completing around October 6, 2026. Admins’ default settings will apply until users override after the rollout.

Google Meet admins can now choose a third option for AI note-taking: enable automatic note-taking only for meetings with three or more people, in addition to enabling/disabling for all meetings. Alongside this language expansion, the Gemini experience in Docs has been reimagined with a centralized interface for generating, writing, and refining documents. New features include Help me create for drafting from prompts, Help me write for inline edits, Match writing style to keep tone consistent, and Match doc format to mirror source formatting. These enhancements are powered by Workspace Intelligence and are rolling out to Rapid Release domains starting July 15, 2026 (visible within 15 days) and to Scheduled Release domains starting August 1, 2026 (visible within 15 days).

Group conversations with external collaborators are now available in Google Chat.
Previously, Google Chat only allowed 1:1 conversations or spaces with external users. This update enables group direct messages that include multiple external collaborators without additional configuration. External users receive an email invitation and must accept to join; group conversations are marked with a visible badge. Admins control access via the External spaces & group direct messages setting. Rollout begins July 15, 2026 for Rapid Release domains (completed by July 17) and July 24, 2026 for Scheduled Release domains (up to 15 days).

Google Meet hardware now offers improved in-room problem reporting with contextual UI options and new Admin console monitoring columns.

GCPW now supports FIDO2-compliant physical security keys and Bluetooth passkeys as second‑factor authentication.

Changes recurring event visibility so that visibility edits apply to the entire series and existing events adopt the strictest visibility setting in the series.
Google Calendar now prevents users from changing the visibility of a single event within a recurring series; any visibility change affects all events in the series.
