Google Workspace Changes

Expanded availability of Google Workspace extensions in Gemini.

The expansion of the Gemini app as a core service allows users in supported Workspace editions to use Google Workspace extensions (currently in open beta for users 18+). These extensions enable Gemini to cross-reference data from Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar, Keep, and Tasks to provide more accurate and informed responses.

The standalone Gemini app (gemini.google.com) is now available as a core service with enterprise-grade data protection for a wide range of Google Workspace editions, including Business, Enterprise, Frontline, Essentials, Education, and Nonprofits. As a core service, it is covered under existing Workspace agreements, ensuring that prompts and generated responses are not reviewed by humans or used to improve AI models without permission.

Google Calendar, Google Keep and Google Tasks are also available as Workspace extensions in the Gemini app.

Extensions allow the Gemini app to interact with other Google apps and services, helping to provide more contextual and relevant responses to your prompts and take certain actions across apps.

Google has expanded the open beta for Google Workspace extensions in the Gemini app to include Google Calendar, Google Keep, and Google Tasks. This allows users to interact with these services directly through Gemini to create, find, and edit calendar events; manage tasks and reminders; and create, search, or reference notes and lists in Keep. These extensions enable Gemini to provide more contextual responses and perform cross-app actions for users with Gemini Business, Enterprise, or Education add-ons.

Gemini in the side panel of Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and Drive is now available in seven additional languages in alpha.

Google has expanded the availability of Gemini in the side panel for Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Drive to include seven additional languages: German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and French. This alpha feature is available for Workspace customers with Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, and Gemini Education Premium add-ons, allowing users to summarize, analyze, and generate content using insights from their emails and documents without switching applications.
