Google is expanding image generation capabilities in the Gemini app to Google Workspace for Education users of all ages, allowing younger students to visualize ideas for their projects. To ensure safety, Gemini includes specific guardrails and content filters for users under 18 to prevent the generation of inappropriate or unsafe content. While users under 18 can refine images using follow-up prompts, they are restricted from editing images directly or using uploaded images for generation. Administrators can control access to this feature by managing the Gemini app service settings in the Admin console.

Organization's logo will appear in the Gemini app next to user's profile picture.

Similar to other Google Workspace service pages, your organization’s logo will now appear next to a user’s profile picture in the Gemini app when they are using their business or education account. This helps users differentiate their work/school account experience from personal accounts in the Gemini app. The logo is only visible if an admin has added one, otherwise 'WORK' or 'EDU' will appear. It is only visible to users within your organization and on the web, not on the Gemini mobile app or gemini.google.com on a mobile device.

Gemini in Chrome AI browsing assistant is now generally available for Google Workspace users with access to the Gemini app, allowing them to ask Gemini for answers and insights using the context of up to 10 browser tabs.

These features empower administrators with full visibility into when Google support staff access Gemini App data, precise control over which Google staff members can view this data (e.g., limiting to US or EU staff), and the ability to require explicit approval before Google accesses this data for support purposes. This expansion reinforces Google's commitment to customer data ownership, security, and privacy, complementing existing coverage for other Workspace products like Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Meet.

Users can now share custom Gems created in the Gemini app, with admin controls for sharing settings.

This launch introduces the ability to share Gems, which are customizable versions of Gemini that users can personalize to be experts on any topic. Once shared, other users can edit, use, or make a copy of the Gem. Gems sharing is powered by the same technology as Google Drive, offering a familiar interface. Admins can control Gem sharing using a new Admin console setting under Generative AI > Gemini app > Gems, with the feature being ON by default.

Quizzes in the Gemini app are now available to under-18 users.

This update expands the availability of the quiz generation feature in the Gemini app to users under 18 years of age. Previously, users could create quizzes using Canvas in the Gemini app by uploading documents or providing prompts. With this change, students can now create their own quizzes to prepare for exams, and educators can create and share quizzes with their classes. There are no admin controls for Canvas, and the feature is on by default for end users.

Google AI Ultra for Business add-on is now available in over 75 additional countries, including EU.

The Google AI Ultra for Business add-on, offering premium AI features and next-generation AI tools, is now expanded to over 75 additional countries, including those in the EU. This add-on is available for Google Workspace Business Starter, Standard, Plus, and Enterprise Starter, Standard, Plus customers. Veo 3 video generation model is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace users, offering enhanced video creation capabilities.

Now, Veo 3 is accessible within the Gemini app for a select group of Workspace customers. This advanced model delivers realistic elements such as real-world physics and accurate lip syncing. Additionally, a new photo-to-video feature allows users to transform still images into 8-second videos, enabling creative animations of objects, drawings, and nature scenes. Users are subject to daily usage limits based on their Google Workspace edition or Google AI Ultra for Business add-on. Veo capabilities are also available for generating video clips in Google Vids.

It offers enhanced capabilities for Gemini app, NotebookLM, Gemini in Workspace, Flow, Whisk, and Project Mariner. It also includes 12,500 credits per month for use in Flow, Whisk, and other credit-based products.
