The Gemini mobile app is now available for Google Workspace users on Android and iOS devices, allowing them to access Gemini as a core service with enterprise data protections. Users can perform research, find quick answers, and utilize their device's camera to export handwritten notes to Google Docs or Gmail, or create visualizations from whiteboard drawings. This rollout also extends access to Education users, both as a core service with qualifying editions and as an additional service.

Gemini app transitioning to a core service for Education Standard and Plus users.

The Gemini app will become a core service in the coming weeks for users of Google Workspace for Education Standard and Plus, including teen students.

Google Workspace for Education admins can now enable the Gemini app as an additional service for teen users (ages 13+). This experience includes added data protection, ensuring that chats are not reviewed by human reviewers or used to improve AI models, and provides an AI Literacy video for first-time users to encourage responsible use.

Gemini for Workspace has submitted for FedRAMP High authorization.

Google has submitted its package to obtain FedRAMP High authorization for Gemini for Workspace, including the Gemini app. This certification ensures that US federal agencies can leverage cloud technologies for critical operations with the highest level of protection for their most sensitive data. The submission is currently pending review by the Joint Authorization Board (JAB) and does not include Data Location at this time.

The expansion of the Gemini app as a core service allows users in supported Workspace editions to use Google Workspace extensions (currently in open beta for users 18+). These extensions enable Gemini to cross-reference data from Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar, Keep, and Tasks to provide more accurate and informed responses.

The standalone Gemini app (gemini.google.com) is now available as a core service with enterprise-grade data protection for a wide range of Google Workspace editions, including Business, Enterprise, Frontline, Essentials, Education, and Nonprofits. As a core service, it is covered under existing Workspace agreements, ensuring that prompts and generated responses are not reviewed by humans or used to improve AI models without permission.

Google Calendar, Google Keep and Google Tasks are also available as Workspace extensions in the Gemini app.

Extensions allow the Gemini app to interact with other Google apps and services, helping to provide more contextual and relevant responses to your prompts and take certain actions across apps.

Google has expanded the open beta for Google Workspace extensions in the Gemini app to include Google Calendar, Google Keep, and Google Tasks. This allows users to interact with these services directly through Gemini to create, find, and edit calendar events; manage tasks and reminders; and create, search, or reference notes and lists in Keep. These extensions enable Gemini to provide more contextual responses and perform cross-app actions for users with Gemini Business, Enterprise, or Education add-ons.
