Google Drive is introducing a modernized video player with updated visuals and improved playback controls.

Google Drive has updated its video player to align with Google Material Design 3, featuring a cleaner look and intuitive controls. The update includes improved fast forward and rewind buttons, easier playback speed adjustments, and better caption management, ensuring a consistent experience across Google Drive and the upcoming Google Vids editor.

Use Gemini in the side panel of Google Drive in seven additional languages (Alpha)

You can now use Gemini in the side panel of Google Drive in seven additional languages: German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, French. The additional languages are available in alpha for Workspace customers with a Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, and Gemini Education Premium add-on.

Google Drive inventory reporting is now generally available for admins.

Google Drive inventory reporting has moved from beta to general availability, allowing admins to export inventory reports to BigQuery to gain deeper insights into how data is classified, accessed, and used. This update includes new functionality such as adherence to data regions settings, additional report details (creator email, owner's organizational unit, and inherited permissions for shared drives), and the capture of audit events for configuration and report status.

Under the umbrella of our data migration services, we’re introducing a new file migration service for Admins to transfer files between OneDrive data to Google Drive for up to 100 users at a time.

Available directly under the Admin console, super admins can now migrate all your files and folders, as well as their corresponding access permissions with shared members.
