Video tile pairing rolls out to Google Meet on iOS mobile, allowing users to pair their video tile with another participant for side-by-side display and improved accessibility.
Following the original feature announcement for the web, video tile pairing expands to Google Meet on iOS. Users can pair their video tile with another meeting participant so both tiles are displayed side-by-side for other attendees, regardless of who is speaking. This is particularly valuable for accessibility, giving participants who are Deaf or hard of hearing the ability to pair their tile with a sign language interpreter and keep both visible in the same frame. Once paired, both tiles are highlighted and positioned together in the meeting layout, with live captions displayed and attributed to both speakers.

Users can now switch from watching a Google Meet live stream to participating with audio and video directly on Android.
While watching a live stream on an Android device, eligible viewers who have been invited to both the live stream and the main meeting can switch roles using the meeting title, live streaming badge, or the info button in the overflow menu. This in-app workflow eliminates the need to reopen join links or switch apps, and existing meeting access permissions and domain policies apply to ensure only authorized participants can join with media.
