Previously, you had to manually turn on this feature during a meeting. This simple, yet impactful update, will help ensure your meeting stays visible and accessible if you need to switch tabs to take notes, view meeting related documents, and more.

Google Meet increases ultra-low latency live streaming support to 100,000 viewers.

The Google Meet ultra-low latency viewing experience for live streamed meetings will now support up to 100,000 viewers for select Google Workspace editions. Also, Viewers can now join ultra-low latency live streams from Google Meet room hardware.

Google Meet on Android is now available for Logitech Rally Bar Huddle.

Google Meet on Android is now officially supported on Logitech’s Rally Bar Huddle appliance for small collaboration rooms and huddle spaces. After initial setup, admins can easily enroll, manage, and monitor these devices using the Google Admin console.

Admins can filter Meet hardware devices by Calendar and Jamboard service status.

Admins can now filter Google Meet hardware devices based on whether the Calendar and Jamboard services are turned OFF. This allows them to identify potential issues with device configurations and quickly resolve them, ensuring proper functionality. For example, admins can quickly identify devices that have the Jamboard service turned off, meaning the Desk 27 and Board 65 devices will no longer be able to launch Jamboard directly on the device.

Google Meet hardware devices will now adhere to Calendar and Jamboard service ON/OFF statuses.

Starting April 22, 2024, Google Meet hardware devices, including Series One Board 65 and Desk 27, will follow the service status of Calendar and Jamboard. For devices to access an assigned calendar, the Calendar service must be ON for the organizational unit. Similarly, Jamboard will only be accessible on these devices if the Jamboard service status is ON.

Google Meet enables direct 1:1 calls with people outside your video calling network on mobile.

Users from outside of your domain will be able to initiate 1:1 video calls with your users and vice versa. Admins will be able to pre-configure this functionality as on or off for their users with a new admin control.

The Google Meet API is now generally available.

You can use the Meet API to programmatically create and configure Meet calls, retrieve information about past meetings, access meeting artifacts and subscribe to real time updates on meetings.

Check in to your meeting room directly from the Google Meet green room.

If you’re using companion mode on the web, you can now check in to your meeting room directly from the green room. Then, when you enter the call, everyone will immediately see your name alongside the conference room you’re joining from.

Beginning today, you’ll be able to use companion mode with your Android and iOS devices.

Pin messages to the top of the meeting chat in Google Meet.

Meeting participants can now pin messages to the top of the meeting chat. Pinned messages will appear for all users, even if they join the meeting after the message was initially sent. This makes it easy to ensure that important messages - like links to presentations - are displayed prominently and easily accessible by meeting participants.

Google Meet Hardware AUE is now referred to as 'end of Meet support'.

The terminology for when a Meet hardware device is no longer supported is changing. ‘End of Meet support date’ replaces Auto-Update Expiration (AUE) in the Meet hardware Help Center. The Admin console will show ‘end of Meet support’ instead of ‘EOL (end of life)’ in both device information and fleet overview pages.
