For those who are impacted by this change, we are committed to help you transition: We are integrating whiteboard tools such as FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro across Google Workspace so you can include them when collaborating in Meet, sharing content in Drive, or scheduling in Calendar.

Support for Google Jamboard devices will end on September 30, 2024.

All Jamboard device license subscriptions will end on September 30, 2024. On October 1, 2024, the 55-inch Jamboard device will reach its Auto Update Expiration (AUE), meaning it will no longer receive security updates, feature updates, or customer support, and device management will be removed from the Admin console.

Jamboard app and device support will be discontinued.

Google will wind down the Jamboard whiteboarding app and end support for Google Jamboard devices. The transition encourages users to adopt alternative whiteboarding tools like FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro, which will be integrated across Google Workspace. A retention and migration path for Jamboard data will be provided.

Improved client-side security for Jamboard with Trusted Types.

Google is improving the client-side security of Jamboard with Trusted Types. This provides an extra layer of protection around Document Object Model (DOM) APIs used by the app or third-party extensions. This requires third-party extensions to use typed objects instead of strings when assigning values to DOM APIs.

Start or join Google Meet meetings directly from Jamboard on the web.

Users can now initiate or join Google Meet meetings directly from Jamboard on the web. This enhances the collaboration experience by allowing seamless presentation and real-time co-creation on a whiteboard without switching between tabs or apps. This feature is available on the web.

Version history is now available in Jamboard on the web.

Version history is now available in Jamboard on the web, allowing users to track changes to a Jam file, identify contributors, create named versions, and restore previous versions. This feature is consistent with other Google Workspace products and makes it easy to see changes and who made them.

Jamboard is now included in Google Workspace Essentials.

Jamboard is now included in Google Workspace Essentials, offering new avenues for communication and collaboration to Essentials customers. This addition allows users to conduct more immersive and engaging meetings.

Create or open Jamboard in Meet.

With the new Google Jamboard and Google Meet integration, you can now create or open an existing jam while on a Meet video call. This digital whiteboarding integration means you can use the Jamboard virtually to host collaborative brainstorming sessions with your coworkers or students in real-time, even when you can’t be in the same room.

Redesign of Jamboard mobile and tablet apps.

The Jamboard apps for iOS and Android have been redesigned to improve usability, performance, and reliability for Jamboard users. These updates create a richer collaborative experience across all user touch points. It brings familiar functionalities from other Google Editors to Jamboard.

Updates to Jamboard.

Updates to Jamboard to make it easier to jam on all your devices including an improved editing experience on Jamboard devices, including a redesigned toolbar and framebar, a new quick-access menu, and new gestures to select objects and simpler ways to open jams from your computer or on Jamboard devices.

Choose your videoconferencing option on Jamboard.

Admins can choose whether or not to enable an enhanced Jamboard videoconferencing experience with Hangouts Meet on Jamboard devices. The improved experience replaces the current “Connect to Meeting” feature to Add full screen videoconferencing to Jamboards and Pair to a calendar.

Google Vault support for Jamboard files.

Google Vault is adding support for Jamboard files stored in Google Drive. Vault will automatically retain and preserve Jamboard files (‘jams”) according to the retention rules and holds set for Google Drive, and let you search and export these files.

Updated UI for the Jamboard web home page.

To create an interface that’s clearer and easier to navigate, Google is updating the design of the Jamboard home page. Material design updates, including updated boxes and increased white space, so you can quickly find what you’re looking for. New buttons to open jams more quickly with fewer clicks

New logs for Jamboard admins.

Adding new Jamboard logs to the Admin console. These will give G Suite admins better visibility into the status of their Jamboards, as well as what actions have been taken on them. We hope this will help you better manage your fleet of Jamboards and better diagnose and fix any issues you have with them.
