NotebookLM has introduced new capabilities for educators and students, enabling them to transform their documents into interactive flashcards and quizzes, facilitating personalized study sessions generated rapidly and grounded exclusively in their source materials. Users can now effortlessly memorize key terms, test their comprehension with personalized questions, and create custom reports by specifying structure, style, and tone, all based on their uploaded class material. This feature helps go beyond passive reading to actively engage with academic content, prepare for exams, and master new skills, with the option to share these tools via a simple link.

NotebookLM partners with OpenStax to offer interactive academic notebooks, including flashcards and quizzes.

NotebookLM has announced a partnership with OpenStax, a leading provider of free, peer-reviewed textbooks, to transform some of their most popular academic titles into interactive Notebooks. These ready-to-use Notebooks are designed to help high school and college students transition from passive reading to active learning. Covering subjects like Biology, Psychology, and Business, users can instantly engage with complex material, accelerate understanding, and utilize features like flashcards and quizzes for enhanced study.

NotebookLM's Studio panel now supports generating shareable links for Audio and Video Overviews within your domain.

The Studio panel in NotebookLM has been upgraded to allow users to generate shareable links for content such as Audio Overviews and Video Overviews. It's important to note that these links are restricted to sharing within your domain, and only users with explicit access to your Notebook will be able to view the shared content.

Introducing Video Overviews in NotebookLM, allowing users to turn documents and other content into AI-narrated explainer videos.

NotebookLM now introduces Video Overviews, an enhancement to the existing Audio Overviews. This feature enables users to transform documents, slides, and charts into engaging explainer videos, complete with AI-narrated walkthroughs and visual elements extracted from the source material. Users can also customize these video overviews by defining topics, learning goals, and target audiences. Currently, this feature is available to users over 18 and is rolling out in English.

NotebookLM receives higher usage limits, best model capabilities (later this year), and increased limits for Audio Overviews, notebooks, queries, sources, and custom styles.

With Google AI Ultra for Business, NotebookLM users will benefit from higher usage limits and access to the best model capabilities, which are expected to be available later this year. Additionally, the add-on increases limits for Audio Overviews, the number of notebooks, queries, and sources per notebook. Users will also gain access to custom notebook styles and response lengths, enhancing their research and organization capabilities.

As part of the Google AI Ultra for Business add-on, NotebookLM will offer higher usage limits and enhanced model capabilities, which are set to arrive later this year. This update also includes increased limits for Audio Overviews, the number of notebooks, queries, and sources per notebook. Furthermore, users will benefit from custom notebook styles and expanded response lengths, providing greater flexibility and capacity for research and organization.

Admins can now deploy Context-Aware Access for the NotebookLM mobile app.

Google has expanded Context-Aware Access (CAA) policies to the NotebookLM mobile app. This enables administrators to establish access levels for the app based on various contextual factors, including a user's identity, location, device security status, and IP address, enhancing security for mobile access.

Use NotebookLM on-the-go with new mobile app

We’re excited to introduce the NotebookLM mobile app on Android and iOS devices, enabling all NotebookLM users to listen to and interact with their audio overviews and other functionalities on-the-go. In addition, we’re introducing the ability for users to specify the lengths of their audio overviews. This particular functionality is only available on web at this time, with plans to extend to mobile at a later date.
