Emoji reactions now supported in client-side encrypted Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Client-side encrypted (CSE) files, specifically Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, now support emoji reactions. This update enables users to react to comments and content with emojis, enhancing collaborative features within the secure CSE framework. Users can add, resolve, delete, and re-open reactions, which are also reflected in a file’s version history and preserved during export or when editing Microsoft Office files.

Admins can now convert client-side encrypted Google Sheets into Microsoft Excel files after Vault or Takeout exports.

Client-side encryption now offers full support for converting decrypted Google Sheets into Microsoft Excel files after an export using Google Vault or the data export tool (Takeout). This new conversion tool allows customers to maintain ownership, access, and perform analysis of sensitive data by enabling administrators to convert previously client-side encrypted content into a more widely compatible format.

Admins can now set client-side encryption (CSE) to be on by default on Android and iOS for Gmail messages, Calendar events, and Drive files.

Admins can now set client-side encryption as the default mode for users on both web and mobile that regularly handle sensitive data. Each new email, event and uploaded file on mobile is automatically client-side encrypted with customer managed keys meaning the user is compliant with their org’s policy from the outset.

Local data storage allows exporting Workspace data to a specific geographic location in beta.

This feature allows admins to export their organization’s Workspace data into their own Google Cloud Storage (GCS) bucket located in a geographic location of their choice to meet their data sovereignty, compliance, and data archival needs.
