Eligible Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Education Standard customers can now import and convert sensitive Microsoft Word files into Google Docs while maintaining client-side encryption, giving customers direct control over encryption keys.

Admins now have more granular control by applying specific Google Chat settings—such as third-party archiving, file sharing, app installation, GIF picker, auto-deletion, and history—at the group level instead of only at the Organizational Unit (OU) level.

Google Slides is introducing a new collection of modern, professionally designed templates to help users build presentations faster. These templates cater to business users (sales pitches, product roadmaps), education users (lesson plans, project reports), and collaborative teams (milestone celebrations, workshop facilitation). Users can access these templates via a new 'Templates' button in the toolbar or through the Insert > Templates menu, allowing them to insert entire sets or specific slides to jumpstart their design process.

Google has expanded the availability of Gemini in the side panel for Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Gmail to include seven new languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. This allows eligible users to summarize, analyze, and generate content using insights from their emails and documents without switching applications. Note that image generation is not yet supported in these additional languages, and Gemini in Slides remains available in English only.

Live stream viewers can now see in-meeting chat messages.

Google Meet is updating live streams to allow viewers to see chat messages sent by participants who joined via the meeting link. This ensures that shared information, such as document links and time-keeping messages, is visible to all attendees, making the experience more equitable. Viewers will receive a notification when a chat message is sent, which they can click to open the chat panel.
