Google Workspace Changes

The Gemini app, as well as Gemini features in Google Workspace, are now BSI C5 certified.

The Gemini in Google Workspace apps and the Gemini App have achieved the German BSI C5 attestations – the first AI productivity assistant to achieve this certification. For our customers operating in the EU, this means they can confidently adopt and integrate AI into their work with assurances that stringent third-party auditors have determined that Gemini’s architecture meets a high bar of security and privacy.

Workspace apps are now available for the Gemini mobile app in open beta.

Workspace apps (formerly known as Workspace Extensions) for the Gemini app are now available on Android and iOS devices in open beta. When enabled, Gemini can connect across your apps, like Gmail, Docs, Calendar, and Drive, to provide more context to your prompts without the need to switch between multiple apps. General availability is expected to begin rolling out by the end of April 2025.

NotebookLM and the Gemini app are now Core Services with enterprise-grade data protection for all education customers

The Gemini app is now a Core Service for all education customers, NotebookLM is now a Core Service for all education customers and NotebookLM Plus, the premium version of NotebookLM, is now a Core Service for customers with Gemini Education and Gemini Education Premium add-ons.

As a core service with enterprise-grade data protection, the Gemini app and NotebookLM are now covered under the Google Workspace for Education terms of service and receive the same level of technical support as other core services in Workspace.

Admins can pre-configure the Google Workspace apps admin setting for the Gemini app ahead of general availability.

Admins can decide whether access to Workspace apps in the Gemini app is ON or OFF when the feature becomes generally available using the new “Allow access to Workspace apps after Beta (upcoming general availability)” setting. This setting is available ahead of general availability, which is expected to begin at the end of April 2025.

In addition to 2.0 Flash, Google Workspace users with access to the Gemini app can now choose between several models on mobile, including: 2.5 Pro (experimental) which is best for complex tasks and can apply an extended amount of thinking across complex tasks and prompts in order to maximize response accuracy 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental) which uses advanced reasoning and is best suited for multi-step reasoning, like project planning. Currently limited to users with access to Gemini Advanced
