Google Workspace Changes

Admins can pre-configure Gemini app conversation history settings before they take effect. By default, conversation history will be ON and retention will be 18 months.

Workspace admins can now pre-configure the Gemini conversation history admin settings before they take effect for their Gemini app users, which is expected by the end of May 2025. The default settings will be with “Gemini conversation history” set to ON and ”Conversation retention” set to 18 months. If no changes are made, the default settings will apply. Users cannot override the Gemini conversation history settings configured by their admin.

File upload to Gems in the Gemini app is now supported in more languages.

You can now add files to your Gem instructions in the Gemini app in all supported languages. Uploading files from your device or Google Drive to your Gem instructions gives your Gem more context and helps tailor its responses to meet your specific needs.

Deep Research is now available on the Gemini mobile app, bringing hours of research to your fingertips in minutes.

You can now generate images in Gmail on your mobile device using Gemini in the side panel.

Building upon the ability to generate images using Gemini in the side panel of Workspace apps on web, you can now generate images in Gmail on your mobile device. Once you select the image, you can then save it, copy it, or insert it into a compose draft.

Control Workspace Business and Enterprise users’ access to new Google Workspace with Gemini alpha features before general availability.

Google Workspace Business and Enterprise admins will be able to turn on access to Workspace with Gemini alpha features for their users. Turning this on gives your users a head start on leveraging our latest AI features and the opportunity to provide Google with helpful feedback as we develop new features.
