Google Docs has introduced a new research pane that allows users to search the web for information, including maps, quotes, and images, and add them directly to their documents. The pane can be accessed via the 'Tools' menu, by right-clicking a selected word, or by using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+R (Windows) or Cmd+Alt+R (Mac).

Migration of legacy Google documents to the new document editor.
Starting May 16th, 2012, Google will begin migrating legacy documents created before July 2010 to a new document editor. This new version introduces several key features, including real-time collaboration, higher-quality imports from desktop, a ruler for setting margins and tab stops, and an integrated chat feature for collaborators to communicate within the document.
