An update on the GData Admin Settings API shutdown

The GData Admin Settings API will be shut down on October 31, 2018. The following features will be shut down or replaced on that date.

Get Google sign-in prompts on all of your phones

Instead of using a 2-Step Verification code to sign in to your G Suite account, you can tap a prompt that Google sends to your phone. With this launch, however, you can opt to get Google prompts on all of your devices automatically.

Protect your users with the latest G Suite login challenge: employee ID

Users may now be asked to verify their identity by providing their employee ID when they sign in to their G Suite account. This will better protect your users from hijacking attempts, as employee IDs are more difficult to guess and phish than many types of identity challenges.

Twenty-two third-party applications added to the G Suite pre-integrated SAML apps catalog

Google has expanded its pre-integrated SAML apps catalog by adding 22 new third-party applications, including Looker, Wrike, and Zoho CRM. This update allows administrators to more easily set up Single-Sign-On (SSO) for these enterprise cloud applications, providing a simpler installation process than custom SAML configurations for all G Suite editions and Cloud Identity customers.

Legacy Google Drive desktop sync client now shutting down on May 12th, 2018

Shutdown of GData Admin Settings API now planned for October 31st, 2018

The GData Admin Settings API has been deprecated but will remain operational until October 31st, 2018, to give developers time to migrate. On October 31st, 2018, this deprecated API will be shut down.

Increasing user undeletion window to 20 days

Increasing the window of time to restore a deleted user from five to 20 days. This extended window can be especially helpful for customers who manage user accounts through an API or other automated sync tools.

Drive File Stream from Google

Launched to early adopters in March, Drive File Stream is a new desktop application that allows you to quickly access all of your Google Drive files on demand, directly from your computer, meaning you use almost none of your hard drive space and spend less time waiting for files to sync.

Better experience for SMS 2-Step Verification users with Google prompt

2-SV SMS users will see an invitation to try Google prompts when they sign in. The invitation will give users a way to preview the new Google prompts sign in flow instead of SMS, and, afterward, choose whether to keep it enabled or opt-out.

Enterprise Identity made easy in G Suite with Cloud Identity

Availability of a new free Cloud Identity license for G Suite customers, which enables your non-G Suite users to get access to Google Cloud's identity services. Using Cloud Identity, you can easily create a unified sign-on for all your users across all enterprise cloud apps, set basic mobile device policies, and enforce multi-factor authentication with security keys.
